Post separation abuse

Great news! The UK Government has announced that post separation abuse will be a criminal offence (March 2020).

See article here

Together with Surviving Economic Abuse I argued that, without this recognition, women were #StillNotSafe. Thank you to Nicola Sharp-Jeffs (@SEAResource) for the most fantastic campaign, to Marisa Bate (@marisajbate) for her excellent piece in the i and David Challen (@david_challen) for his Times edit.

Our amendment was well supported in the House of Lords – thank you to Baroness Hayman, Viscount Goschen and Baroness Bertin among others for their tireless efforts. A great reference to the campaign by Baroness Hayman is below (original clip here).

It was a privilege to be invited to take part in the NSW Joint Select Committee Review on whether or not to criminalise coercive control in NSW. The report I did with Evan Stark has been published by the Joint Select Committee can be viewed here. We said yes! Do it. And explained why. Now we watch and wait.
